The beginning of the Queer & BIPOC Knife Sharpening Alliance
After doing my knife sharpening fundraiser since October of 2020 and raising a lot of money from my neighbors, I started thinking about how I could scale up this effort to put more care into the world. I realized that the main thing limiting it was ME. I'm the only one sharpening. We need to get some more BIPOC and Queer folks doing this, both because they can make a living this way and also because we can collectively help more people. So I'm starting this alliance and the first thing I'm going to do is provide a free mentorships to five people to teach them the sharpening trade craft. I'm going to ask that five to teach another five. And so on. I'm starting this project with some attention to scale because I think it has the potential to grow. Stay tuned.
